Pastoral Care
TRAINING SESSION
We are offering training for parishioners who would like to serve as Pastoral Care Ministers by bringing the Eucharist to residents of assisted care facilities. If you would like to attend the upcoming training session, please contact Huguette Teran at hteran@stmichaelchurch.net
We would love to have you join us! Please note that all volunteers must also pass a background check and complete Safe Environment Training required by the Archdiocese. Read more about our Pastoral Care Ministry below.
MINISTRY TO THE SICK & HOMEBOUND
St. Michael works to provide sacramental and pastoral care to members of the community who are sick and homebound, through the following ministries:
Ministry of Assisted Living Residents and the Homebound
Our Pastoral Care Ministers provide Holy Communion, prayer opportunities, and share parish news information to the local assisted living residents and homebound parishioners. For those unable to attend Mass at the parish, this ministry brings the community to them. Homebound and assisted living parishioners can be visited at mutually agreeable time.
The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick
This sacrament is intended for critical moments at the onset of illness, the progression of a serious disease, or a notable weakening in the physical condition of the person.
Bereavement Ministry
- This ministry serves the Church family in three very specific ways.
- Helping families during their initial bereavement and with planning Catholic services.
- Assisting at the funeral or memorial Mass.
- Presiding at other scheduled services and activities.
Spiritual Support
This ministry is intended to provide emotional comfort and spiritual support following the loss of a loved one. The bereavement support group meets monthly at the parish for anyone in need.
