Music

The musical tradition of the universal Church is a treasure of inestimable value, greater even than that of any other art. The main reason for this pre-eminence is that, as a combination of sacred music and words, it forms a necessary or integral part of solemn liturgy.

-Vatican II, Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy

Capella Musica 18+ | September 4th, 2025 – June 7th, 2026

The Cappella Musica is the primary adult choir in the parish. They sing a variety of music, including Gregorian chant, Renaissance polyphony, Baroque and Classical chorales, Romantic era motets and music of today. This choir sings weekly at 11:00 Mass and at the primary liturgies of the liturgical year, including Holy Week. (Warms up in PLC room C at 10:15am on Sundays)

Choir Leader: Nathan Schafsnitz

Rehearsals: Thursdays, 7:00-8:30 pm

Cantors

It is the cantor’s primary role to sing the Responsorial Psalm at Mass, but also to lead the congregation in other responsorial music and to assist, if necessary, with hymns. Singers with a clear voice who wish to serve in this ministry should contact Nathan Schafsnitz to set up a meeting.

Instrumentalists

We are always looking for instrumentalists to enhance music at our liturgies. If you play an instrument well, be sure your name is on file with the Music Department -- we’ll contact you as needs arise.
