PRE-K4 - 5TH GRADE
In-Person Sunday Faith Formation (CCE)
Our in-person CCE program encourages children and parents to grow together in learning about the Catholic faith through the interactive Augustine Institute Curriculum - Word of Life. The curriculum combines traditional Catholic teachings with multimedia resources to engage the minds of young learners through the concept of the Four Golden Catechetical Threads, utilizing sacred art, scripture, and prayer.
The Four Golden Threads are:
1. Salvation History
Proclaim God's presence in history, His plan for mankind, and our place in that plan.
2. Christian Anthropology
The true human story that answers the questions about our real identity, why we are here, and who we are called to be. Reveals the dignity of every person and our identity in Christ Jesus.
3. Heroic Virtue & Character Formation
Presents an integrated approach to virtue and living as a person of character who is transformed by grace.
4. Learning through Discipleship
Catechesis that shows why the faith matters and nurtures a deepening integration of the faith in daily life through Christian discipleship. Inspires students to live as committed disciples of Christ Jesus.
Children's Faith Formation ministry programs are for children in Pre-K4 through the 5th grade. Young children must be fully potty trained to participate in CFF programs. The in-person classes are held from 10:20 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. in the St. Michael's Catholic School building.
HOME SCHOOL OPTION
Families interested in a completely parent-taught program are welcome to register for our Home School option. Home school families are also included in our Recreated - Family Catechesis Days!
PREPARING FOR THE SACRAMENTS OF FIRST RECONCILIATION AND FIRST HOLY COMMUNION
The Children Faith Formation ministry partners with parents to prepare their children to celebrate God's forgiveness in the celebration of First Reconciliation and to receive Jesus for the first time in the celebration of the First Holy Communion. Second-graders must be baptized in the Catholic faith and be in their second continuous year of Faith Formation or in their second continuous year of religion classes in a Catholic school.
If you would like your child to participate in the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion, you must register your child in either Sunday Faith Formation or a Catholic school, along with our Sacrament Preparation program.
Registering a child solely in Sunday Faith Formation, Home School Faith Formation, or a Catholic school does not automatically register a child in the Sacrament Preparation program.
Children who have celebrated their 6th birthday and who have not been baptized will receive their sacraments through St. Michael the Archangel's Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults-Adapted for Children program (see RCIA-Adapted).
RCIA/OCIA - ADAPTED FOR CHILDREN
Children aged seven and older who were not baptized Catholic but wish to become Catholic can be enrolled in the RCIA/OCIA-Adapted for Children program. The Office of Children's Faith Formation prepares children for the sacraments who are in grades 2 through 5.
ARE YOU BEING CALLED TO SERVE?
Are you being called to spread the faith, the truth, and the love of Jesus Christ to little ones? Adult volunteers serve as catechists, classroom assistants, prayer leaders, and more. Adult volunteers with children enrolled in CCE will enjoy a discount on tuition.
Further, we love our teen volunteers, and so do the little ones! We encourage teens to volunteer as catechists, classroom assistants, event planners, hall monitors, and prayer leaders.
Please get in touch with Liza Oprandi if you are interested in volunteering for any of our Children's Faith Formation programs.
Check out the calendar below.
Teens in grades 6th-8th should contact Chris Hart or Youth Faith Formation.
