Shine is St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church's program for middle school youth, regardless of if you go to a Catholic School or Non-Catholic school. Shine meets Sundays from 7-8:30 pm September to May, as well as an alternative schedule of events all summer long! We also have Shine Friday events like a Christmas party, Laser Tag, etc several times a year & one all day retreat.
A night at Shine might look like something this: an interactive ice breaker or game, large group time discussing the relevant message for the week, followed by small group time. Every youth who comes to Shine is placed into a small group.
Small groups are formed based on gender and age. Students meet in small groups where they ask questions about faith, discuss the weekly message as it applies to their life, and meet new friends!
Teens can join Shine and be assigned to a small group at any point during the year. Friends are always welcome to check out Shine for a week without registering, regardless of their faith background!
To really build community in small groups we recommend regular attendance, but if for any reason you can’t attend every Sunday, just attend when you are able to.
Every teen’s spiritual journey is important to us. The celebration of the sacraments are critical moments on that journey. We offer preparation programs for each Sacrament, including Confirmation.
Youth in grades 6-8 that are looking to be Baptized, receive the Eucharist for the first time (Holy Communion) or make their first Reconciliation must be enrolled in Shine, as well as our Sacramental Preparation program.
