A Letter from the Pastor
My dear Parishioners,
In response to the concerns related to COVID-19, also known as, “Coronavirus,” and following directives from Daniel Cardinal DiNardo of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, Saint Michael the Archangel is taking preventative measures to ensure the well- being of our parishioners, clergy, and staff.
In consultation with senior church officials, members of the pastoral council and following the directives of the Archdiocese I made the decision that all parish activities, ministry meetings or organizational gatherings that meet at St. Michael’s are suspended. I realize that these restrictions and the inability to pray in church together is a disappointment for us all. In addition, we will be live streaming the 5:00pm Saturday Vigil Mass and the 9:00am Mass on Sunday. This will be available on our parish website. These actions have been set in motion by the Archdiocese and they are in our faith communities’ best interest. Please note Daniel Cardinal DiNardo’s letter.
I implore you to maintain an active prayer life with your families and to offer your prayers for one another and those impacted by this crisis. Please remember that although we are not gathering as a community, the church is in need of your support not only spiritually but with your faithful financial support. We are grateful for all who have continued to give and ask that you remain faithful through the following means: The U.S. mail, by dropping off your envelope, online giving (Parishsoft), or text “give” to 832-720-7360.
In closing, I urge you to take care of yourselves, to exercise prudence and discernment during this critical time. Above all let us not be overcome with anxiety and fear but trust in the compassionate care of our loving God. We will continue to communicate future changes through Flocknote, Facebook and the parish website. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in keeping us all safe.
I remain,
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Rev. Wayne W. Wilkerson, Pastor
