Adopt-A-Family
St. Michael parishioners can adopt a child and their family from San Francisco Nativity Academy. More details to come at the beginning of November. Gifts will be turned in and given to the families in mid December.
Christmas Toy Drive
The Parish Social Justice Ministry invites you to provide a child with a toy this Christmas!
All Christmas toys will benefit Christian Community Service Center’s “Jingle Bell Express”
Here is how it works:
Habitat for Humanity
Help build a home for a family in need. Build dates are in April and May.
Hope Bags
We will continue our Lenten service project of the collection and distribution of Hope Bags for the homeless. Items in the Hope Bags include: small can of fruits or vegetables, package of peanut butter or cheese crackers, granola bar, canned meat, a cutlery pack, half pint water bottle, pair of socks, St. Michael prayer card, handmade card with an encouraging note, and a crisis information brochure on Houston’s homeless shelters.
Hope Bags will be handed out to families after all the Masses on a weekend in March. Families are invited to keep these bags in their car and share the bags when they see a homeless or needy person on a street corner. What a wonderful way to share our material gifts with others and to show our care for those most in need!
School Uniform Drive
St. Michael will be participating in a School Uniform Collection. Our collection will benefit San Francisco Nativity Academy and Christian Community Service Center (CCSC). We are asking parishioners to buy light blue polo shirts and navy shorts/pants/skorts/jumper, sizes Youth XS, S, and M for shirts and sizes 3-6 in bottoms. Parishioners may give cash, write checks payable to St. Michael Catholic Church with ‘School Uniform Collection’ on the memo line, or give gift cards (Amazon, Target, Fiesta, Walmart, etc). The collection of items will be in July. Items may be dropped off in the Welcome Center or in the Parish Office.
Thanksgiving Food Drive
A collection of Thanksgiving food items will be held in mid-November. All donations will benefit the food pantries of Christian Community Service Center. Please bring non-perishable food items only; nothing that needs refrigeration. Food items may be dropped off in the Welcome Center, in any of the food bins located within the church, or at the Parish Office.
